Annual State CME Requirements for Pennsylvania
100 total hours every 2 years
✔ 20 AMA PRA Category 1
✔ 12 Patient Safety and/or Risk Management
✔ 2 Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting
Approved activities in the area of patient safety and risk management may include the following topics:
EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2017, Individuals applying for an initial license or certification issued by the licensing board, which license or certification authorizes the licensee or certificate holder to be a dispenser or prescriber, to submit, no later than 12 months after obtaining an initial license or certification, documentation acceptable to the licensing board of the completion of at least two (2) hours of education in pain management or identification of addiction and at least two (2) hours of education in the practices of prescribing or dispensing of opioids.

Pennsylvania State Board of Osteopathic Medicine CME Requirements

✔ 12 Category 1 or Category 2 on Patient Safety and/or Risk Management
In order to renew a license, completion of 100 credit hours of continuing medical education in the preceding biennial period, which runs from November 1 of an even year through October 31 of the next even year, will be required for osteopathic physicians.
