Here's this week's sample CME board review question on COVID-19 vaccination...
Question:
According to the current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance, how and when should the following groups be vaccinated?
Answer Options:
All asymptomatic persons from the community presenting to outpatient settings should be vaccinated regardless of their exposure, quarantine status, and history of COVID-19 illness.
Only asymptomatic residents who are not actively in quarantine for a recent, known COVID-19 exposure in long-term care and correctional facilities should be vaccinated.
Given that not all patients develop post-infection immunity after COVID-19 illness, both symptomatic and asymptomatic residents of homeless shelters should be vaccinated regardless of their exposure, quarantine status, past or current COVID-19 illness status in order to avoid missed opportunities for vaccination.
Regardless of the setting, vaccination of persons who were treated with antibody infusion for active COVID-19 illness should be deferred for at least 90 days after this treatment.
