Med-Challenger’s custom exam builder provides flexible, re-usable options for self-study, exam review, and other knowledge assessment activities. Users can apply multiple course assets to a single custom exam! Once created and saved, custom exams will follow the content source and content allocation parameters you’ve set every time it’s used.
This way, you can set up preferred ways to self-assess and create your own personal review regimen to stay up to date and compliant with maintenance of certification requirements more easily.
What’s more, for education directors, custom exams can be used in conjunction with our Assignments feature, allowing program administrators to use Med-Challenger’s materials for specific education needs adjunct to existing rotational training, for special remediation needs, or simply to create a brand new testing experience for your learners.
Personal education example
Let’s say you want to assign yourself 10 Q&A / day in emergency medicine as a way to get a “daily dose” of knowledge assessment in preparation for the boards.
You could create a custom exam and tell it to pull 10 Q&A from your EM course’s total question pool of over 3600 Q&A, every time your custom exam is taken. This would provide you a one-click method of getting 10 fresh Q&A’s every day as a way to refresh your knowledge, using all available Q&A over time.
Our adaptive learning engine further works to ensure all items are seen and mastered without annoying repeats of known information.
Group training example
Let’s say you want to create a single “baseline” assessment to assess the knowledge of incoming students. You can create a specific exam using hand-picked questions.
You could then assign this custom exam to your incoming students every year, thereby testing each group’s baseline knowledge and giving yourself a means of comparison between previous years’ results.
Furthermore, our Assignments engine gives you special behavior options so you can limit number of attempts, time allowed, and whether post-assessment answers or remediation are available.
And that’s just a couple of examples. There are many ways to use custom exams. It just depends on your needs and objectives.
Use multiple course assets in a single custom exam
The ability to use multiple assets gives program admins more flexibility in tailoring custom exams for specific purposes (rotation tests, cross-specialty tests, etc).
Now, for example, you could create a “general skills review” assessment using ECG, auscultation, and radiography interpretation cases from those respective courses.
You’ll see an “+ Add Course” tab once you’ve selected your first asset (i.e. Emergency Medicine selected first, shown here). You can add any number of courses.
You can browse Q&A from each asset via each respective tab, with the end result producing a single custom exam per your settings.
