40 total hours every 2 years
A physician holding an active license to practice medicine in Arizona shall complete 40 credit hours of the continuing medical education (CME) required by A.R.S. § 32-1434 during the two calendar years preceding biennial registration.

A physician holding an active license to practice medicine in Arizona shall complete 40 credit hours of the continuing medical education (CME) required by A.R.S. § 32-1434 during the two calendar years preceding biennial registration.
- The physician shall ensure at least one of the credit hours of continuing medical education is certified as Category 1, as described in subsection (B)(4), and addresses the effective and safe prescribing of opioids;
- One hour of credit is allowed for each clock hour of participation in continuing medical education activities, unless otherwise designated in subsection (B); and
- The physician may not carry excess hours of continuing medical education over to another two-year cycle.
